The Greene County Soil and Water Conservation District is selling trees this spring.
Orders are being taken now through Feb. 18, at the SWCD office located at the USDA Service Center in Jefferson or by calling 515-386-3817. Trees will be delivered the first part of April. An actual date will be determined closer to spring. Availability is not guaranteed so order early. This would be a great time to get your trees for a windbreak, a spokesperson said.
The SWCD also has REAP (Resource Enhancement and Protection Program) cost-share funding available to help pay up to 75 perecent of a windbreak, not to exceed $1500. Again, persons interested in cost- share for a windbreak or in ordering trees should visit the SWCD office.
